Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Courses

Instructed by: Mitch Prather
Upon completion of training, students will have acquired the Certificate & Contact Hours necessary to apply for the Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester’s Certification Examination. CA-NV Section AWWA BF Tester “Certification Examination” will be offered Saturdays at the same location as the workshop. Please be advised certification Examination Application fees are not included in the class fees.

Facility location/address will be provided upon class/course enrollment.

8 Hour Course/1 Day Workshop

Students will review and demonstrate the procedures used for acceptable practices of testing the four basic backflow prevention assemblies.

  • Fee: $500.00
  • Time: 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM Friday
  • CEUs/Contact Hours: Students will earn .8 CEUs, 8-contact hours for attending this 8 hour class

16 Hour Course/2 Day Workshop

Students will review and demonstrate the procedures used for acceptable practices of testing the four basic backflow prevention assemblies.

  • Fee: $800.00
  • Time: 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM Thursday and Friday
  • CEUs/Contact Hours: Students will earn 1.6 CEUs, 16-contact hours for attending this 16 hour class

40 Hour Course/5 Day Course

History of Backflow Prevention, Basic Hydraulics and Theory of Backflow Prevention, Administration of Cross-Connection Control Programs, Methods of Backflow Prevention and Backflow Prevention Assemblies, Backflow Prevention Assembly Testing and Diagnostics.

  • Fee: $1,300.00
  • Time: 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday - Friday
    (CA-NV A.W.W.A. Certification Exam offered Saturday at the same location as class)
  • CEUs/Contact Hours: Students will earn 4.0 CEUs, 40-contact hours for attending this 40 hour class

Cross-Connection Control Program Specialist Course

Instructed by: Mitch Prather

This course was designed for those responsible for the administration of a cross-connection control program with in their agency or area.

Students will:
  • Explain the importance of the regulations, policies and procedures relating to cross-connection control programs.
  • Plan, and conduct a site survey to determine the degree of hazard, evaluate the level of protection, and determine which type of backflow protection is adequate.
  • Explain the importance of cross-connection control to water users, and discuss public relation issues.

Cross-Connection Control Specialist exam offered Friday in class, but exam fees not included in class fees.
